Loppuvuoden kuulumisia
Joulu lähestyy ja koulu täyttää pian vuoden! Aika rientää.
Monenlaista touhua on pidetty yllä, mm. työpajoja, kerrottu asiasta ja saatu hiukan myös varoja koulun kulujen kattamiseksi ja vähän jopa uuden koulun, naapurikylään tulevan, pesämunaksi.
Keräysluvan kanssa on asia tällä hetkellä niin, että varsinaisesti keräystilinumeroa en vielä saa laittaa näkyville, koska rekisteröity yhdistys on niin nuori, mutta lahjoituksia saa ottaa vastaan ja kysyttäessä kertoa enemmän.
Myös erilaisia tilaisuuksia saa pitää ja jos niissä on antaa vastinetta tulijoille; esim. musiikkia, kuvia, puhetta, makuja tms, niin jopa osallistumismaksun saa pyytää.
Lahjoittajia on ollut ilman mitään noitakaan onneksi sen verran, että koulu on pysynyt hyvin pystyssä ja toiminta jatkuu hyvillä mielin. "Pienistä puroista syntyy iso joki", sen olen todellakin huomannut:)
Paljon on tullut pyyntöjä kertomaan asiasta ja kaikille pyytäneille olen luvannut. Silmälaseja olen kerännyt ja on ollut mukava huomata, että sitäkin kautta iloa voi levittää myös täällä Suomenmaassa, on tullut todella mukavia rupatteluhetkiä ihan tuntemattomienkin ihmisten kanssa.
Kun seuraavan kerran on aika lähteä katsastamaan koulu ja tapaamaan ystäviämme sinne kauas, luulen että matkapakaasi painaa aikalailla erilaisista saaduista ja itse hankituista viemisistä. Eipä tarvitse ottaa omia kamppeita paljon mukaan...mahtuu sitten tuliaisina vaikka niitä ihania kankaita sieltä...
No, sitten viime viikolla pidimme kotonamme Sri Lanka-illan, jossa oli mukavasti osanottajia. Ohjelma oli vapaamuotoinen mutta silti suunniteltu.
Kuvia, puhetta, makuja, runoja...
Myös Oriflame oli edustettuna. Aikaisemmin syksyllä siltä taholta tuli pyyntö, saisivatko he järjestää haastekeräyskampanjan Telluschoolille ja toki lupasimme. Tietty osa tiettynä
aikana myytyjen tuotteiden tuloista menee lyhentämättömänä koulun menoihin. Heillä on useinkin joku keräyskohde em. tavalla. Hyödyllistä työtä, toden totta!
Latest news from the latter part of the year
Christmas is approaching and the school will soon be one year old! Time flies. We have had many activities, for example workshops, we have spread the word and also received some means to cover the school’s expenses and even a small nest egg for the new school to be built in the neighbouring village.
Regarding the current situation of the collection licence, I am still not allowed to show the collection account number here because the registered association is so young, but we can receive donations and, when asked, tell people more about it. Also, we are allowed to organise various functions and if we provide some value for one’s money, e.g. music, pictures, talk, tastes etc. we can even ask for a fee.
Fortunately, there have been enough donors even without any events to keep the school running and the operation continues in high spirits. “Many small streams make one big river”, I have really found out that☺
I have received many requests to come to tell about the school and I have promised to do so to everyone who has asked. I have collected glasses and it has been nice to discover that this way it is also possible to spread joy here in Finland, I have had really nice chats with complete strangers. Next time when I go to see the school and to meet friends there far away, I am pretty sure that my suitcase will be very heavy with various things received or acquired by myself. I need not take many garments of my own with me then…and so, there will be plenty of room for presents, e.g. those lovely fabrics, when I come back.
Well, last week we had a Sri Lankan evening at our home, with plenty of participants. The programme was informal but planned. Photos, talk, tastes, poems… Oriflame was also present. Earlier in the autumn they had asked if they could organise a challenge collection campaign for Telluschool and, of course, we said yes. A certain part of the profits of the products sold at a certain period goes in full for the expenses of the school. They often have such fund-raising projects for a certain goal. Useful work, truly!
Omaa suosikkiani munakoisopaistosta oli tietenkin tarjolla illassa...
My own favourite, the eggplant dish, was of course served in the evening…

Olipa ihmeen maukasta tämä papaija, noin niinkuin tuontihedelmäksi!
Banaania ja ananasta oli myös tarjolla.
This papaya tasted surprisingly good, for an imported fruit! Banana and pineapple were also served.
Eihän sitä GURDia voita mikään, mitä siellä saa, mutta hyvälle maistui tämäkin hunajan kanssa.
Nothing can beat the GURD available there, but this was also delicious with honey.
Tammikuussa on sitten kerrottavaa enemmän ja kuvia paikan päältä.
