Vähitellen palataan kouluun. Gradually Returning to School.

Kesä on tullut pohjolaan ja olemme saaneet nauttia lämpimästä ja auringosta.

Oman korona-tilanteemme lisäksi on huolettanut, kuinka Sri Lankan (ja muidenkin maiden) tautitilanne kehittyy. 
Sri Lankassa on ollut todella tiukat karanteenit koko kansalle. Siellä onkin vältytty taudin leviämiseltä. 
 Varmistettuja tartuntoja maassa on noin 2100 ja tautiin kuolleita 11. Valtaosa tartunnoista on Colombon alueella ja maan eteläosassa vain muutama. Armeijan keskuudessa tauti on levinnyt enimmin.
Ruoka- yms. apua olemme jakaneet kevään aikana joka kuukausi kolmen opettajan palkan lisäksi. Perheet ovat olleet hyvin iloisia ja tyytyväisiä saamaansa apuun. Apua pyritään varojen niin salliessa jatkamaan, kunnes tilanne paranee.

Sri Lankan hallitus on antanut luvan avata pikkuhiljaa koulut. 
Ensin saa aloittaa ammatilliset koulut. Jos tilanne näyttää hyvältä, saa vähän ajan kuluttua aloittaa 10-11 luokat, viikon päästä 8-9 luokat jne. Lopulta, kun on vuorossa montessoriluokat eli nuorimmat vuosiluokat, aloitamme myös Telluschoolin. Olemme todella varovaisia, ettemme vaaranna lastemme perheitä.

The summer has arrived to the North and we have been able to enjoy the warmth and the sun.

In addition to our own corona situation, we have been worried about the progress of Sri Lanka's (and of other countries, too) virus situation.

Sri Lanka has imposed very strict quarantine restrictions for the entire nation. This has prevented the disease from spreading.

About 2100 confirmed cases and 11 deaths have been reported in the country. The major part of the infections are in the Colombo area and only a few in the southern part of the country. Among the army the virus has been spreading the most. During the spring, we have distributed food and other aid every month in addition to the salaries of three teachers. Families have been very happy and pleased with the help they have got. Funds permitting, we will try to continue this aid until the situation improves.

The Sri Lankan government has approved the permission to open schools gradually.

First, the vocational schools are allowed to start. If the situation looks good, after a while, it is the turn of Grades 10-11, after a week Grades 8-9 and so on. Finally, when it is the turn of Montessori Grades, i.e. the youngest grades, we will also open Telluschool. We will be really careful not to put the families of our children in danger.

Koulun ikkunat on saatu jo lähes valmiiksi. The school windows are almost finished. Oppimiselle mahdollisuus Opportunity for Learning

Uuden keräysluvan turvin koulunkäynti on edelleen turvattu. Tilin muututtua yritystiliksi keräyslupa on jatkuva. Se vaatii kuitenkin meiltä vastuullisilta enemmän työtä ja myös tilinhoitokulut nousivat huomattavasti. Mielellään kuitenkin teemme tätä iloa ja oppimista tukevaa työtä ja haluamme taata koulutuksen mahdollisuuden ja kenties sen myötä paremman tulevaisuuden. After receiving the new collection licence, school operations continue to be secured. As the account changed into a company account, the collection licence will be continuous. However, it will demand more work from us responsible, and the account management costs also increased considerably. Nevertheless, we are pleased to do this work supporting joy and learning and we want to guarantee the opportunity for education and perhaps, along with it, a better future.

Silmälasikeräys on voimassa kaiken aikaa! Collection of eyeglasses is valid all the time!

  Olemme jälleen saaneet yksityisiltä sekä yhteistyökumppaneiltamme, mm. FennO- Optiikalta ja Jyväs-Optiikalta, runsaasti silmälaseja, joita on tällä hetkellä kasassa jo 450 kpl. Pakkailen niitä matkalaukkuun odottamaan seuraavaa matkaa; mielessä auringon lämpö  ja ihanat, iloiset ihmiset...antaahan se aavistuksen verran mukavaa tunnetta rintaan ja nostaa hyviä muistoja pintaan aiemmista matkoista silmälasilastien kanssa.   😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎🙋🌞🌞🌞   We have once again received plenty of glasses, amounting to 450 pcs at present, from private individuals and our cooperation partners, for example Fenno Optiikka and Jyväs-Optiikka. I am packing them to a suitcase to wait for the next trip; the warmth of the sun and lovely, happy people in my mind...it surely gives you a nice feeling inside, even slightly, and raises good memories of the earlier trips with loads of glasses.
