Telluschool in Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa

    Aurinko nousi majapaikkani viereisen riisipellon takaa- ihan joka aamu:) Katolla oli hyvä juoda aamuisin kahvit ja valmistautua uuden päivän tapahtumiin.     The sun rose behind the rice field next to my lodgings – every single morning :) It was good to   have coffee on the roof in the mornings and get ready for the activities of a new day. Seuraavassa päivityksessä kerron viimeisimmän, Rathgaman kylään avatun koulumme avajaisista. Tämäkin kylä on ns. tsunamialueella, jossa asuu pääasiassa kalastajia, kuten muissakin koulujemme kylissä. Kouluja on nyt neljässä eri kylässä ja opettajia on seitsemän, neljä vanhempaa (=kokeneempaa) ja kolme nuorempaa. Palkat muodostuvat kokemuksen mukaan. Oppilaita on yhteensä noin 400!   In my next posting, I will tell you about the opening of our latest school in Rathgama village. This village is also situated in the 'tsunami area' and is mainly inhabited by fishermen like other villages of our schools. We now have schools in four different villages and seven teachers, four older (=more experienced) and three younger ones. Salaries are determined by experience. We have a total of about 400 pupils! Joulukuussa 2018 avattiin Ginthotan kylässä uusi koulumme. Kylä sijaitsee ns. muslimialueella lähempänä Gallen kaupunkia. Koulu toimii viereiseltä temppeliltä vuokratussa vanhassa koulutalossa. läheisellä tontilla on myös valtion ylläpitämä lastentarha pienille lapsille. Tässä koulussa opiskelee yhteensä noin reilut sata oppilasta kahden opettajan voimin siten, että opettajapari vaihtuu välillä. In December 2018 we opened a new school in the village of Ginthota. The village is situated in the Muslim area, closer to the town of Galle. The school operates in an old schoolhouse rented from a nearby temple. There is also a state-funded kindergarten for small children in the vicinity.
