Joulukuussa 2018 avattiin Ginthotan kylässä uusi koulumme. Kylä sijaitsee ns. muslimialueella lähempänä Gallen kaupunkia. Koulu toimii viereiseltä temppeliltä vuokratussa vanhassa koulutalossa. läheisellä tontilla on myös valtion ylläpitämä lastentarha pienille lapsille.
Tässä koulussa opiskelee yhteensä noin reilut sata oppilasta kahden opettajan voimin siten, että opettajapari vaihtuu välillä.
In December 2018 we opened a new school in the village of Ginthota. The village is situated in the Muslim area, closer to the town of Galle. The school operates in an old schoolhouse rented from a nearby temple. There is also a state-funded kindergarten for small children in the vicinity. This school has a total of over one 100 children under the guidance of two teachers, the teacher pair changing at intervals.
m Dezember 2018 haben wir im Dorf Ginthota eine neue Schule eröffnet. Das Dorf liegt im muslimischen Viertel, näher an der Stadt Galle. Die Schule befindet sich in einem alten Schulhaus, das von einem nahe gelegenen Tempel gemietet wurde. Es gibt auch einen staatlich finanzierten Kindergarten für Kleinkinder in der Nähe. Diese Schule hat insgesamt über 100 Kinder unter Anleitung von zwei Lehrern, wobei das Lehrerpaar in regelmäßigen Abständen wechselt.
Lukuvuoden vaihtuessa kokoonnuttiin koululle ja vanhempia oli sankoin joukoin myös mukana. Oppilaita tulee kouluun ainakin kolmesta läheisestä eri kylästä.

At the turn of the school year, we gathered to the school, accompanied by many parents, too. Children come to school at least from three different neighbouring villages. In this photo, the man with a white shirt in the middle is our teacher, Sujeewa.

Oppilailla oli mukanaan ihan koko kouluvarustus; vihkot, kynät ja muut tarvikkeet repussa tai laukussa, vesipulloja unohtamatta.

Vanhemmat kuuntelivat tarkasti Dilipin neuvoja oppimisen tärkeydestä ja säännöllisen koulunkäynnin hyödyistä.

Students of upper grades were standing beside the wall, in one row. The teachers divided the pupils into groups and agreed between themselves which group each one will have each time.
