 Ginthotan koululuokkamme ryhmien oppilaat tässä kuvassa juuri saamiensa           koulutarvikepakettien kanssa.

Koulu alkaa 2.1.2019. Heti sen jälkeen, 5.1. on juhla, johon oppilaat ovat harjoitelleet taas ahkerasti ohjelmia joulukuun kestäneellä lomallaan. Pääsemme nauttimaan siitä paikan päällä:)

 The school will start on 2 January 2019. Right after that, on 5 January, there will be a celebration, for
which the pupils have been busy rehearsing programmes during their December holidays. We will be
privileged to enjoy them on the spot ☺.

The tone how to advertise one's own products has stuck in the children's minds well, persuading customers to buy the best products from one's own stall.

 Die Klanglandschaft ist wie auf einem echten Markt, nur etwas leiser! Der Ton, wie man für seine eigenen Produkte werben kann, hat sich im Gedächtnis der Kinder gut festgesetzt, um die Kunden zu überzeugen die besten Produkte am eigenen Stand zu kaufen

 Jälleen ovat oppilaamme ahkeroineet aikuisten tuella ja järjestäneet Gintotan kylässä markkinatapahtuman. Oppilaita tapahtumassa on mukana myös Boossan koulultamme.

Pienemmät oppilaat ovat varsinaisia myyjiä ja isommat taustatukena. 

Once again our pupils have worked hard with the support of adults and have organised a market happening in the village of Ginto. Pupils from our Boossa school are also taking part in the happening.

The smallest pupils are the actual sellers and the bigger ones are providing background 
support.

 Wieder einmal haben unsere Schüler der Telluschool, unterstützt von den Erwachsenen, hart gearbeitet und einen Markt im Dorf Ginthota organisiert. Schüler aus der Telluschool in Boossa haben ebenfalls an dem Ereignis teilgenommen.
Die kleinsten Schüler sind die eigentlichen Verkäufer und die größeren unterstützen im Hintergrund.

Myös vanhemmat ja isovanhemmat tukevat lapsia tässä tärkeässä toimessa:)

Jälleen on aika alkaa miettimään, millä matkalaukkunsa täyttäisi sitten kun

Wieder ist es an der Zeit zu überlegen was in den Koffer für unseren Winterbesuch muss, um unsere Schulkinder in der heißen Ferne zu sehen.

Wir haben schon schöne Stapel von Brillen erhalten, aber im Koffer ist immer noch Platz!

Koulupäivät sujuvat entiseen malliin ja lapset ahkeroivat kovasti. 

Uudessa, Gintotan kylässä sijaitsevassa koululuokassamme käy myös oppilaat ahkerasti ja vuodenvaihteessa taas saamme taas kuulla ja nähdä, kuinka englanninkielen taito on karttunut. Se on aina juhlahetki!

 

School days go on as usual and the children are working very hard. Our new school class in the village of Ginthota also receives many pupils every day, and at the end of the year we will once again hear and see how much English they have learnt. It is always a festive moment!

Die Tage an der Schule laufen wie üblich und die Kinder arbeiten sehr hart. Auch unsere neue Schulklasse im Dorf Ginthota begrüßt täglich viele Schüler, und am Ende des Jahres werden wir wieder hören und sehen, wie viel Englisch sie gelernt haben. Es ist immer ein festlicher Moment.

Boossasta vajaat 10 km etelään, lähemmäksi Gallen kaupunkia on perustettu Telluschoolin uusi koululuokka. Kylä on nimeltään Ginthota ja pääosin muslimialuetta. 

Koulu pääsee nyt alkamaan täysipainoisesti, kun muslimien Ramadan on ohi. 

Luokassa opiskelee muslimiperheiden ja muidenkin uskontojen edustamien perheiden lapset yhdessä. 

Opettajia kouluillamme on tällä hetkellä neljä ja on tarkoitus, että he opettavat osittain vuorotellen kahdessa paikassa .

On suunnitteilla, että myös Boossasta pohjoiseen päin vajaan 10 km päässä sijaitsevassa Ratgaman kylässä aloittaa vielä yksi uusi koululuokka toimintansa tulevan syksyn aikana.

Less than 10 km to the south of Boossa, near the town of Galle, a new class operating under Telluschool has been set up. The village is called Ginthota and is mainly inhabited by Muslims. The month of Ramadan being over now, the school can start its full operations. Children from Muslim families and from families representing other religions will all study in the same class. At the moment, we have four teachers in our schools and it is intended that they teach partly in two places in turns.

We have also planned to start another new class in the village of Ratgaman, less than 10 km to the north of Boossa, in the coming autumn.

Weniger als 10 km südlich von Boossa, in der Nähe von Galle, wurde eine neue Schule, die zur Telluschool gehört, gegründet. Diese Schule liegt im Dorf Ginthota, das Gebiet ist v.a. von Muslimen bewohnt. Der Ramadan ist nun vorbei und das Schuljahr kann beginnen. In der Klasse lernen Schüler muslimischer Familien und Kinder mit anderen Religionen gemeinsam. An unseren Schulen unterrichten mittlerweile vier Lehrer, die abwechselnd an zwei Orten unterrichten sollen.
Es ist geplant, dass auch im Dorf Ratgama, etwa 10 km nördlich von Boossa (der Ort, an dem die erste Telluschool gegründet worden ist) im kommenden Herbst eine weitere Schulklasse ins Leben gerufen wird.

One room and a terrace from an ordinary residential house have been rented for the classroom.

Saksalainen Anja-ystävämme kavereineen on jälleen hankkinut lahjoja koululle ja vie ne itse perille elokuussa lomamatkallaan.

Our German friend, Anja, and her friends have again acquired presents to the school, and she herself will take them to the spot on her holidays in August.

Unsere deutsche Freundin hat wieder Geschenke für die Kinder der Telluschool gekauft und bringt sie im August, wenn sie auf Reisen ist, bei der Schule vorbei

Vanha tuttumme, koulullamme jo aiemminkin vieraillut canadalainen erityisopettaja oli vapaaehtoistyössä Boossan koululla ja jälleen saimme palautetta, että oppimista on tapahtunut valtavasti...in, on, under etc.

Koulun oma opettaja on iloinen, kun saa tehdä yhteistyötä ammattilaistenkin vapaaehtoisten kanssa.

Our old acquaintance, Canadian special education teacher, who has visited our school earlier, was doing voluntary work at the Boossa school, and again, we got feedback that the children have advanced so much in learning English...in, on, under etc. The school's own teacher is happy to also work together with professional volunteers.

Unsere kanadische Spezial Lehrerin hat sich erneut bereit erklärt als Freiwillige an der Telluschool zu unterrichten. Wir haben gehört, dass die Kinder enorme Fortschritte bei den Feinheiten der englischen Sprache gemacht haben mit in, auf, unter uw.
Der fest angestellte Lehrer der Schule freut sich sehr auch mit professionellen Freiwilligen zusammenzuarbeiten.

Kaikki vierailijat saavat avustaan ja tuestaan  saman kauniin kiitoksen lapsilta. Meistä se tuntuu joskus suorastaan vaivaannuttavalta, mutta maassa maan tavalla. Ottakaamme sen  ilolla vastaan :)

All visitors receive the same warm thanks for their help and support from the children. We sometimes may feel embarrassed about it, but do as the locals do. Let's accept them with joy☺

Alle Besucher erhalten den gleichen Dank für ihre Unterstützung und Hilfe von den Kindern. Für uns fühlt es sich manchmal etwas unangenehm an, aber es ist Sitte des Landes, dass sich die Kinder durch einen Kniefall bedanken. Daher lasst es uns gerne annehmen

Noch ein bisschen über die Stimmung bei Sri Lankas Neujahrs Feiern

Jokaisessa perheessä talot siivotaan ja koristellaan, pihat harjataan siistiksi ja perheelle ostetaan uudet vaatteet, jos varat vain sen sallivat.

Every family cleans and decorates the house, brushes the yard and buys new clothes for the family members, finances permitting.

Jede Familie putzt und dekoriert das Haus, der Hof wird gereinigt und wenn es das Geld erlaubt wird neue Kleidung für die Familienmitglieder gekauft

Tällaisia paperikoristeita tehdään itse tai ostetaan valmiina kaupasta. Tässäkin tuulessa mukavasti hulmuavassa pallossa on perinteiset Buddhalaisuuden värit, kuten asiaan kuuluu.

People make paper decorations of this kind by themselves, or they buy them ready-made from the shop. This balloon floating nicely in the wind has the traditional colours of Buddhism.

Solche Kunstwerke aus Papier werden selber hergestellt oder auch verkauft.  Das Kunstwerk hier, das im Wind flattert, hat die traditionellen Farben des Buddhismus. (blau, gelb, rot, weiß. orange)

Myös koulut koristellaan. Koululaiset ovat lomalla juhlan kunniaksi noin 3-4 viikkoa.

The schools are also decorated. The schoolchildren are on holiday for about 3-4 weeks.
